Introduction

Dale is an average boy. He likes to play baseball. He has a pet turtle named Sherlock. And, like most boys, he doesn't mind getting dirty.

One day, Dale overheard some of the kids in his class talking about his friend, Clean Clarise.
"Clarise's fingernails are always so clean!" one said.
"And her breath is minty!" said another.
"Her hair is always clean and combed," added another.
"Her clothes are clean, too, and she always smells good — not like some kids in this class!"

Dale looked at his dirty fingernails. He brushed his hair out of his eyes. He looked at the spaghetti stain on his shirt. He thought about what the kids had said.  "Clarise likes to get dirty, too," Dale thought.
She played on the school's soccer team. Dale had even seen Clarise roll around in the mud with her pet golden retriever. But the other kids were right — at school, Clarise was always clean and fresh.

Dale wondered what Clarise's secret was. "It sure would be cool to hear the class say some nice things about me," he thought. Then he had an idea. "I'll bet my best friend, the Internet whiz, can help me!"

Task

Your best friend, Dirty Dale, wants to be more like Clean Clarise. He asks you to look on the Internet for things he can do to keep himself neat and clean.  To help Dale, you need to find some good hygiene advice for him, then make a daily schedule to help him remember what he needs to do.

Process

Using the websites below, write the answers to the hygiene questions on your paper:

An Introduction to the Hair and Nails

Using your answers to the questions and other information you found on the Web sites, make a daily hygiene schedule for Dale.  Create a table in Microsoft Word.  The time slots should be "Before Breakfast, After Breakfast, Before Lunch, After Lunch, Before Dinner and After Dinner".

Conclusion

Thanks to you, Dirty Dale is now neat, clean, healthy and happy. In fact, he needs a new nickname. Why don't you give him one?
