Introduction

There are many mysterious things that occur on our planet.  Although scientists and historians have researched mysterious places and events, often they are left wondering, "Who did this?", "Why did this happen?", "When did this happen?" and "How did this happen?"

It is time for the fourth grade I.M.P.A.C.T. team to tackle some of planet Earth's Unsolved Mysteries!  Click on the link to read the Introductory PowerPoint slideshow.

Task

Your task is to research one of the mysteries from the PowerPoint slideshow on the Internet and by using resources from our library.

1.  You will work with the group to create a timeline of these events.

2.  After you have selected your mystery and conducted research, you will create your own ABC PowerPoint that describes your research.

3.  You will present your PowerPoint to the group.

Process

Print out the note taking page, to help keep your research organized.  You will need one in-depth fact for each letter of the alphabet.  In the end, you will have created a 28 page PowerPoint slide show. (Title slide, 26 letter fact slides, Resources slide)  Use the links below for your Internet research.  Don't forget to copy the URL address for each link that you use, and paste it onto your Resources slide.

As a researcher, it is important to answer the following questions in your slideshow:  who, what, where, when, how, why.  Also, because there is no solid evidence to explain these mysteries, you must present more than one point of view.

Conclusion

At the end of our research, we will watch the presentations as a class.  Do you think your research answered who, what, where, when, how, or why?  Which details from the projects did you believe?  Which details from the projects were difficult to believe?  Do you think any of these mysteries will ever be completely solved?
