Downloading Pictures to Your H: Drive

Please use these directions to Save and/or Print pictures using the Canon A530 cameras.

 

8   Log on to your computer.  Plug the white USB cable into the camera.  There is an outlet on the camera under the gray DC IN DIGITAL A/V OUT flap on the side of the camera.  Plug the other end of the camera into USB outlet on the computer, as seen below.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

8   A window will appear.  Choose Picasa2 and click OK.  (If a window appears asking you to download an updated version of Picasa, click No, Not Now.)

8   In the upper left hand corner, click the Select Device button.  Click Canon Camera USB.  In the new window, you should see a preview of the pictures you took.  Highlight the picture you want by clicking on it.  To select multiple pictures, hold down the Ctrl key while clicking. 

8   When you have selected all of the photos you need, click File ->Acquire Image.  Then close the preview window.

8   In the bottom right hand corner, click Finish.  A window will appear and ask you for a title.  (This will be helpful when you want to later edit/print your pictures).  Enter a title and click Finish.

 

 

 

 

 

 

TO SAVE THE PICTURES:  Click Edit -> Select All.  Then in the bottom right hand corner, click the Export button.

8   A window will appear.  Click the Browse button.  Click on the “+” next to My Computer.  Click on the “+” next to your H: drive.  If you want a new folder for the pictures, click on your H: drive once to highlight it.  Then click “New Folder”, double click on the “new folder” and type in a name for the folder.  (ex: Fall Festival) Then click OK.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

8   In Name of Exported Folder field, type the name again.  (ex: fall festival)

Make sure Image Size Options has Resize to…480 pixels selected.  Then click OK.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

8   These pictures are now saved to you H: drive and can be accessed from any computer in the building, if you are logged on.

 

TO EDIT:  Double click on the picture you want to print.  At this point, you will be able to crop and adjust the color by using the tools on the left hand side of the screen.

 

TO CROP:

8   Click on the crop button.  Select the size you want the picture to be, or stay on the manual setting.  With the manual setting, hold your mouse button down to draw a box around your photo.  The rest of the screen will stay shaded.  The non-shaded portion of the screen is what your cropped picture will look like.  Then click Apply.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

TO ADJUST COLOR:

8   Click I’m Feeling Lucky, Auto Contrast and Auto Color as necessary to adjust the quality of the picture.  To undo any change, click the Undo ____ at the bottom of the left hand panel toolbar.

 

TO PRINT PICTURES:

-Click the Back to Library button at the top of the left hand panel toolbar.

-Click Edit ->Select All

-Click File -> Print.   This will take you to the printing options.

 

8   By selecting a photo size, each photo will print out to be that size.  If you need duplicates of each photo, click the “+” button next to copies per picture.

 

***PLEASE PREVIEW WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO PRINT AND HOW MANY PAGES IN THE PREVIEW SCREEN!

8   In the lab, you will need to choose a printer:  LabColor.

 

Ready?  Click PRINT in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

 

 

TO CREATE A SLIDESHOW

8   Click to select the photos you want in the slideshow.  (Edit -> Select All if you want all of the photos)

8   Click the Slideshow button at the top of the page.

8   You can adjust the amount of time each picture is shown on the right, or click the arrow to manually change pictures.

8   To add music:  (music must be an MP3 file saved to your H: drive)  Click Tools -> Options on the tool bar.  In the window, click the “slideshow” tab.  Browse for your MP3 using the browse button to find it in your H: drive. 

 

TO CREATE A MOVIE

8   Click to select the photos you want in the slideshow.  (Edit -> Select All if you want all of the photos)

8   Click Create -> Movie. 

8   In the new window, select Large and the amount of time you’d like each picture to be shown.  Click OK

8   The last window should say “full frames, Uncompressed”.  Click OK

8   After movie is finished “rendering”, you will see it appear as a movie file in your My Pictures drive.  At this point, you can double click to play it.  THEN, cut and paste it into your H: Drive.
