How do I create a table? ¨ Click Table -> Insert -> Table ¨ In window, choose the number of rows and columns you would like in your table. ¨ For an invisible table, change border size to zero. Adjust cell padding as necessary.

How do I merge cells in a table? ¨ Highlight cells ¨ Click table -> merge cells

How do I split cells in a table? ¨ Highlight cell or click table -> select -> cell ¨ Click table -> split cells ¨ In window choose how many rows or columns you would like to create.

How do I change the
background of my page? To add a color background: ¨ Click Format -> Background. In the middle of the window, choose background color. This is also where you can make adjustments to the color of links. To add a picture background/watermark:

How do I create a link? A: To create a link to another page you have created: ¨ First, you must create a new page: Click the “new page” button on the tool bar.
¨ Click File -> Save As. Check the “Save In” window has a web icon and your name. Name the page something appropriate with NO SPACES. You will see a white tab appear at the top of your index screen that allows you to switch between open pages.

¨ Click on the page to which you want to link. It will appear in the bottom window. Click OK to close window.
¨ Remember, to make your web pages easy to use, link back to the first page from the second page. (make your links 2-way). B: To create a link to another website: ¨ Highlight the text or picture you want to the user to click on for a link, Right Click, click “hyperlink”. ¨ Type the address of the page to which you want to link. (If it is a long address, you open it in Internet Explorer, right click on the address, click “copy”. Then go back to the window in FrontPage, click in the address field and press “Ctrl V” to paste.)

| How do I create a bookmark link? (a link to another location on the same page) |
| -To create bookmarks, you actually work backwards. You must mark areas in your page that you want to “jump” to later. |

How do I test my links? ¨ Click the preview button in the left corner of the screen and click on your link to test it. Click on the normal button to return to web design.

How do I insert clipart? ¨ Put your cursor in the cell of the table in which you’d like to place an image. ¨ Clipart: Click Insert -> Picture –> Clipart. o Search for a graphic and click on a picture to select it. o Note: when searching for a graphic, if it has a little yellow star in the bottom right hand, then that graphic is animated. You will not see the animation until you preview and/or publish your page. o To resize the graphic, click on the graphic once so you see 8 black squares appear around the edges. To resize the graphic without distortion, use the bottom right corner. Pull down to enlarge or pull inward to shrink the graphic.

How do I insert a
graphic from the Internet? o You can insert graphics from anywhere on the Internet. This includes Google Images, and similar image search engines, or almost any other website you can find.
o
o Now the graphic is saved in an easy to find location. o Go back into FrontPage. Click inside the cell in which you’d like the graphic to appear. Click Insert -> Picture -> From File. o A new window will appear. In the “Look In” field at the top of the window, choose your H: (username) drive. Double click on the “web graphics” folder. Click on the graphic you want to insert. Click Insert.

How do I insert a photograph? o Most likely, you will be inserting pictures you took on the school’s digital cameras. Please see the attached sheet on how to move the pictures from the disk to your H: drive. Reminder: you must give each picture you take a unique name when inserting into FrontPage. DO NOT use a child’s first/last name when “Saving As”. Good examples include: math2, kidsplaying). Do not give 2 pictures the same name. o In FrontPage: Click inside the cell in which you’d like the graphic to appear. Click Insert -> Picture -> From File. o A new window will appear. In the “Look In” field at the top of the window, choose your H: (username) drive. Double click on the “web graphics” folder. Click on the photograph you want to insert. Click Insert.

How do I remove a link from
a graphic? o If you have saved a graphic from another website, there is a chance you saved not only the graphic, but also a link that the author had attached to the graphic (remember the spinner example). o Hold your mouse over the newly inserted graphic. If you see the window: Then you must remove the link if you did not create it. You do not want your students clicking on a picture and going to the site that you got the picture from.

| How do I insert a document that I have saved in Microsoft Word? |
| It is extremely difficult to lift entire documents from Microsoft Publisher and place them on a webpage, while keeping the same page setup. In other words, if you try this with a Publisher document, it most likely won't look the same on your web page. Try creating something similar in Microsoft Word. |
You may notice some formatting differences and you may need to adjust centering and/or line spacing. |

| How do I insert a marquee? |
| A marquee is a rectangle that contains scrolling text. A fun way to spice up your page! |

| How do I make thumbnails for my photos? |
| Thumbnails are used when adding many pictures to a page. A thumbnail is a small version of your picture that takes minimal time to download. Therefore, your viewers only need to wait for the pictures they want to see. If you are adding many photos to one page, you should use thumbnails. |
| -Insert the photo that you would like to turn into a thumbnail. (see How Do I Insert A Photo?) |
